Rosemary's Baby (1968)

  1. Mia Farrow is everything in this. Something I never really picked up on before is how often other characters comment on her appearance, frequently in a very mean way, and how when she is in outrageous pain she seems to be ashamed of how bad she looks - it makes me sad. That being said I just love all her clothes (and hairstyles) in this movie - iconic. Her performance is so so good.

Watching this after experiencing pregnancy was a whole new and relatable perspective - SPOILER ALERT STOP HERE - but I could have sworn I was carrying a demon baby in the first few months that was trying to kill me...

    1. Wow agreed about the hairstyles and outfits. Can I have her wardrobe please? Also cannot believe I'd never seen this movie! I may have accidentally watched the first five minutes in French, but I think I got the gist of the setup. It was a light and not too spooky movie. The scariest thing was watching men be allowed to completely control and dictate her life.

  2. I want to murder John Cassaveties throughout this whole movie, so he really nailed the role. Mia Farrow is so effing good. It is every subtle detail in this movie. When the pain goes away and she asks Guy-never trust a man named Guy- to feel her belly and he recoils. So upsetting. Also my worst nightmare is neighbors that won't leave me alone.
