Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)

  1. I noticed while watching, and later confirmed, that there were no modern special effects or CGI used in this movie, which is pretty cool. I noticed it at first with some of the tricks with shadows, and later read that Coppola refused to use CGI. I have an appreciation for that as it took more creativity and work than just computering it all, and I felt it added to the cinematic value. Otherwise, this isn't really my usual taste in movies - too much romance, drama and sex for me (I'm a prude). But... I'm glad I watched it.

  2. This is my favorite Dracula adaptation, and close to my favorite vampire movie in general. So beautifully shot. I love baby Keanu in a period role. It works somehow for me though! The cast in general. I mean, Richard E. Grant. Also tom Waits as Renfield is inspired.
